lyrics

memories are not my friends
and all the threads I couldn’t tend to
now I’m wishing all the winds
would blow them all away
still attached to what was not
and what was then I’ve not forgot
the me back then I seem intent
on holding on ’til detriment
doubt in all decisions met
and photographs still represent
I cannot tell if I was there or was it all pretence
so sad for all the things that past
rose tinting what was made of glass
and grieving that which didn’t last
and wondering if I went too fast
feel bruised and spewed out on the shore
confused to how I came at all
arrival on this fragile ground
a body lies in sadness now
images can’t comprehend
who was she and what she meant
make peace with what I couldn’t tend
and all that’s left behind
the sacrifices on the stage
the people who have gone astray
and what was lost and what was gained
the ones who lost their lives upon the way
and all the dusks and all the dawns
the sun the moon the stars and all
the waters and the oceans roar
the rising tide the errand of a fool
this voyage has no elegance
but what I know I know at length
a soul needs time to stop and rest
and greeted now in holy reverence
yes what I know I know at length
I’m humbled by the hidden depths
a soul needs time and much respect
and on arrival met in reverence
yes on arrival met in reverence
